About UsThe History of The Mill House In 1998 a group of fashion conscious Auckland ladies, two of whom worked in the retail sector, observed that the larger size market was poorly served in terms of up market fashionable garments. They banded together and leased a shop in Epsom that had been used last century, as the building where flour had been milled for the local Epsom bakery. Thus the name The Mill House was born. In stocking the new store it soon became evident that there was a lack of flair with many of the clothes available in the larger sizes. So in 1999 they launched their own label Moss with design being undertaken in house. In 2002 one of the partners retired and in 2003 another one shifted to Wellington. The decision was reached to split the business between the two remaining directors with Gabrielle dedicated to the Moss label and Annette the retail store of The Mill House. Annette was joined by her husband Rex when setting up in 2003 and in 2006 Alicia joined the team as Retail Manager. The shop was relocated to a larger premises with better car parking at 471 Mt Eden Rd at the start of 2008 There continues to be a strong and ongoing relationship with Moss- this being the consistently amongst the best selling labels stocked.
